Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sifted flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup moist, shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped almonds

Instructions

  1. Mix the shortening or butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup sifted flour until well combined.
  2. Press and flatten the mixture with your hand to cover the bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch oblong pan.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
