Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup + 2 teaspoons shortening
  • 3/4 to 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups dry milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix flours, dry milk, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add eggs and brown sugar; mix well.
  4. Gradually add water until a stiff dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to desired thickness.
  6. Cut into bone-shaped pieces using a cookie cutter.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 325°F for 25 minutes.
