Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake mix
  • 14 oz. pkg. caramel candy
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions.
  2. Pour half of the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
  4. Unwrap the caramel candies and melt them with evaporated milk and butter/margarine in a saucepan over low heat.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the hot cake, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped pecans on top of the caramel layer.
  7. Pour the remaining cake batter over the toppings.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for an additional 25 minutes.
