Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Beat butter, eggs, and sugar until well blended.
  2. Add vanilla and stir to combine.
  3. Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) and add to the wet mixture.
  4. Stir until well blended.
  5. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  6. Divide the chilled dough into 2 parts and roll each into a 1 1/2-inch diameter roll.
  7. Wrap each roll in waxed paper and refrigerate again.
  8. When ready, slice the dough into cookies and bake in a 350°F oven on a cookie sheet.
  9. Allow cookies to cool and then decorate as desired.
