Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 qt. canned tomatoes
  • 3 oz. Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz. grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. oregano leaves
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 16 oz. cottage cheese
  • 1 pkg. lasagna noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and prepare a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef with chopped onion until browned.
  3. Add canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, sugar, and oregano to the beef mixture.
  4. Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes to develop flavor.
  5. Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain.
  6. Layer the ingredients in the prepared pan: start with a layer of sauce, then noodles, cottage cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella.
  7. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45-60 minutes until bubbling and golden.
  9. Let rest for a few minutes before serving to set the lasagna.
