Walnut Orange Loaves

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 7 1/2 oz. chopped dated
  • 1 cup walnuts

Instructions

  1. With electric mixer, cream butter with sugars.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla.
  3. Beat well.
  4. Sift flour with salt, soda and baking powder.
  5. Add to mixture alternately with orange juice and bourbon. Stir in dates, walnuts and ground up orange.
  6. Bake in 2 loaf pans that have been buttered and floured.
  7. 350° approx. 45 minutes.
