Warm pineapple sundaes feature tender pineapple in a spiced sauce, served over ice cream for a delightful dessert that combines fruity sweetness with warming spices.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. can unsweetened pineapple tidbits (undrained)
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp. margarine
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 3 Tbsp. raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine pineapple juice, brown sugar, water, and cornstarch in a saucepan.
  2. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  4. Stir in pineapple, raisins (if using), margarine, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Cook over low heat, stirring until heated through.
  6. Stir in vanilla.
  7. Place about 1/2 cup of ice cream in each dessert dish.
  8. Spoon 3 tablespoons of warm pineapple sauce over the ice cream.
  9. Sprinkle with toasted coconut, if desired, and serve immediately.
