Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine
  • 1/2 tsp. dried tarragon
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 2 c. chicken broth
  • 8 oz. lasagne noodles

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  2. Saute sliced mushrooms until lightly browned.
  3. Add white wine and dried tarragon to the skillet and cook over medium heat until the juices have evaporated.
  4. Set the mushroom mixture aside.
  5. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a separate saucepan.
  6. Add flour to the butter and cook, stirring constantly, to make a roux.
  7. Gradually whisk in half and half and chicken broth, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  8. Season with salt, nutmeg, and white pepper to taste.
  9. Cook lasagne noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  10. Layer the cooked noodles, mushroom sauce, and additional ingredients as desired in a baking dish.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
