Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (14 oz.) package caramels
  • 1 can Eagle Brand milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs, and half of the condensed milk in a mixing bowl.
  3. Beat well with a mixer until smooth.
  4. Spread half of the batter evenly in a buttered 9x13 inch cake pan.
  5. Bake for approximately 20-30 minutes or until the cake is golden and pulling away from the sides of the pan.
  6. While the cake bakes, melt the caramels with the remaining condensed milk and chopped nuts until smooth.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture over the hot baked cake.
  8. Spread the remaining batter on top of the caramel layer evenly.
  9. Bake for an additional 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
