Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1 1/2 c. all bran shreds
  • 1 egg
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt into a bowl.
  2. Pour milk and molasses over the bran and let soak briefly.
  3. Add the beaten egg and melted shortening to the bran mixture.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the flour mixture, then fold in the raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
