Yams On The Half Shell

Creamy baked yams with a hint of orange marmalade and nutmeg, topped with nuts for added crunch—perfect as a comforting side dish for special occasions or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 large yams
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup orange marmalade, divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Bake yams at 375°F (190°C) for about 45 minutes until tender.
  2. Slice off the top third of each yam and scoop out the flesh into a bowl.
  3. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1/2 cup of orange marmalade, and 2 tablespoons of butter to the yam flesh.
  4. Whip the mixture with a beater until smooth and well combined.
  5. Reassemble the yam shells with the whipped mixture and place them on a baking dish.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, then during the last 5 minutes, drizzle with the remaining orange marmalade and sprinkle chopped nuts if desired.
