Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups sifted self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Put butter in a bowl until soft.
  2. Add sugar and cream well.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add vanilla extract.
  5. Sift self-rising flour with baking powder.
  6. Alternate adding milk and sifted flour mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, mixing after each addition.
  7. Mix with electric beater or by hand until smooth.
  8. Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake.
