Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1 c. HEB whipping cream, whipped
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. mashed bananas
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix together butter and sugar until very light and creamy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Combine mashed bananas and sour milk or buttermilk.
  6. Add sifted dry ingredients in thirds, alternating with thirds of banana mixture. Beat well after each addition until smooth.
  7. Pour batter into two greased and floured 9-inch round pans.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Allow cakes to cool.
