Tips & Substitutions

Ensure your butter is at room temperature for easier creaming. For a nut-free version, you can substitute finely ground walnuts with almond flour or omit them entirely. If you prefer a different fruit flavor, raspberry or apricot preserves can be used instead of currant jelly. To achieve the perfect texture, be careful not to over-mix the dough once the flour is added.

Serving Suggestions

These Yugoslav Christmas Cookies are delightful on their own but can be paired with a warm cup of tea or coffee. For a festive touch, serve them alongside Chocolate-Cherry Filled Cookies or Hummers. They also make a beautiful addition to a holiday dessert platter, showcasing a variety of flavors and textures for your guests.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, you can freeze them for up to three months. To reheat, simply place them in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 5-10 minutes to restore their freshness and texture.
