Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and flour in a bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, put margarine, water, shortening, and cocoa.
  3. Bring to a boil and pour over the flour mixture.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients: buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla.
  5. Add to the batter and blend thoroughly.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased pan.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes.
