Ingredients

  • 1 unbeaten egg white
  • 1 Tbsp. cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 drops oil flavoring
  • food coloring
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. soft butter or shortening

Instructions

  1. Combine egg white, cream, vanilla, oil flavoring, and food coloring. Stir well.
  2. Add powdered sugar all at once, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Add more cream if needed to achieve the desired consistency.
  4. Add butter or shortening and additional sugar if necessary to make the mixture firm enough to roll into small balls.
  5. Arrange the balls on waxed paper.
  6. Press each ball with the tines of a fork dipped in powdered sugar.
  7. Let stand overnight to form a crust.
  8. Place mints into tins with waxed paper between layers. Mints can be frozen and stored for several months.
