Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 large peeled and sliced cooking apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix 1/2 cup butter, 1 teaspoon sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 1/4 cups flour together.
  2. Add beaten egg yolk and 2 tablespoons milk to the mixture and combine.
  3. Pat the dough into a coffee cake pan.
  4. Top the dough with peeled and sliced apples, then cover with 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, 1 1/2 tablespoons flour, and 2 tablespoons butter.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
