Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks margarine or butter
  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Boil water and margarine in a saucepan.
  2. Add flour, sugar, and salt to the mixture and stir well.
  3. In a small bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla together.
  4. Combine the egg mixture with the first mixture and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased jelly roll pan and bake for 20 minutes at 400°F.
