Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups blueberries, raspberries or peaches
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sugar and fruit.
  3. Pour butter into an 8 x 11-inch dish and put in oven to melt.
  4. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together, then stir in the milk to make the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the melted butter in the dish.
  6. Quickly spoon the fruit and juices over the batter.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
