Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons anise seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in a mixing bowl until fluffy.
  2. Add sugar and beat continuously for 20 minutes.
  3. Add dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder), and beat for another 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in anise seed.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a well-greased and floured cookie sheet, forming round cookies by swirling the dough.
  6. Allow the cookies to stand and dry for 8 hours or overnight.
  7. Bake in a 325°F oven for about 15 minutes.
