Instructions
- Make dough from flour, egg, butter or margarine, sugar, baking powder, lemon rind and juice, and vanilla or extract.
- Grate 6 to 8 apples.
- Add sugar to taste and mix with the grated apples.
- Roll out the cold dough.
- Place half of the dough in a greased pan and prick the bottom with a fork.
- Spread the grated apples evenly over the dough in the pan.
- Cover with the remaining dough and seal the edges like a pie.
- Prick the top crust with a fork.
- Brush the top with beaten egg yolk.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until the crust is light brown.
