Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced peeled apples
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Mound sliced peeled apples in a buttered 9-inch pie plate or casserole dish.
  2. Sprinkle the apples with orange juice.
  3. Combine sugar, flour, ground cinnamon, and a dash of salt in a bowl.
  4. Cut in softened butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the crumbly topping over the apples.
  6. Bake at 357°F (around 180°C) for 45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is crisp.
  7. Serve warm topped with ice cream.
