Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 1/2 cups reconstituted nonfat dry milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • dash of salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar (sweetener)
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread slices and tear them into cubes.
  2. Place the bread cubes into an 8 1/4 x 1 3/4-inch ovenware dish.
  3. Add hot reconstituted nonfat dry milk to the bread.
  4. Let the mixture stand for 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat together eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sweetener until light and frothy.
  6. Add the peeled, cored, and diced apple along with raisins into the bread mixture.
  7. Transfer the mixture into a shallow baking pan and fill the pan with water.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Serve warm or cold.
