Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 pears or 5 to 6 apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp to 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the apples or pears into a buttered 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Add lemon juice and water to the fruit.
  3. Sprinkle the fruit with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  4. Cream together sugar, butter or margarine, and peanut butter.
  5. Work the flour into the creamed mixture to make a crumbly topping.
  6. Spread the crumb mixture over the fruit in the baking pan.
  7. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until the fruit is tender and the crust is light brown.
