Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 medium Granny Smith apples, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 to 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 deep dish pie crusts

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
  2. Add brown sugar and mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture into a 9-inch pie plate, making sure the bottom is covered.
  4. Sprinkle chopped walnuts on top of the mixture.
  5. Place one pie crust over the walnut mixture.
  6. Arrange sliced apples on top of the pie crust and set aside.
