Applesauce Jar Cake
A moist, flavorful applesauce cake baked in jars, perfect for gifting. Spiced with cinnamon, it combines the comforting taste of apples with a tender crumb.

Instructions
- Cream together shortening and sugar.
- Beat in eggs, applesauce, and 2/3 cup sugar.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the dry ingredients to the applesauce mixture and mix well.
- Optional: Fold in 2/3 cup chopped nuts and raisins.
- Pour the batter into well-greased wide-mouth pint canning jars, filling only half full.
- Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes.
- Remove jars one at a time and wipe sealing edges clean.
- Place on lids (boiled in water) and tighten with rings.
- Screw lids tight and allow jars to cool; they will seal as the cake cools.
- Store as you would regular canned goods or give as a gift.
