Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 2 cups nutmeats
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups raisins

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together until smooth.
  2. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and cloves to the mixture.
  3. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  4. Add eggs, applesauce, nutmeats, and raisins to the mixture.
  5. Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
