Ingredients

  • 1 package Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Golden Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Put dry cake mix, softened butter, eggs, applesauce, and cinnamon into a large mixer bowl.
  4. Beat for 4 minutes at medium speed.
  5. Stir in black walnuts.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pans and spread evenly.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool before removing from pans.
