Ingredients

  • 12 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1 container whipped cream cheese
  • 12 fresh asparagus spears
  • crumbled bacon bits
  • melted butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the asparagus spears; drain and cool.
  2. Use a rolling pin to flatten out the bread.
  3. Cut off the crusts after you have rolled over the bread.
  4. Spread the cream cheese over the bread slices, sprinkle bacon bits over this, add the asparagus spear and roll as for a jellyroll.
  5. Cut each roll in half, place on a cookie sheet, brush each roll with butter and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Bake in a hot oven (400°) until the Parmesan has a golden glow (about 5 to 8 minutes), but watch closely so the rolls don't burn.
  7. You could also broil 6 inches from the broiler until lightly toasted.
