Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 12 saltine crackers
  • 1 (7 oz.) can minced clams
  • salt

Instructions

  1. In a large kettle, fry the bacon until crisp.
  2. Add the minced onion and fry for a few minutes.
  3. Add the diced potatoes and cover with water.
  4. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Add butter, milk, and crushed saltine crackers to the kettle.
  6. When the mixture is hot, add the minced clams, salt, and pepper.
  7. Heat the chowder for about 5 minutes, but do not boil.
  8. Serve immediately.
