Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 stick oleo (margarine or butter)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, cocoa, oleo, and eggs together until well combined.
  2. Alternately add and mix in the self-rising flour, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add boiling water to the batter and mix until light and creamy.
  4. Pour the batter into two 9-inch pans or a loaf pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool and then frost with your favorite icing.
