Ingredients

  • 12 oz. bacon
  • 1 lb. extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 2 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crisp. Drain well and crumble into small pieces.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine crumbled bacon, grated cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, mayonnaise, and cayenne pepper; mix thoroughly.
  3. Place slivered almonds in the bottom of an oiled 7-cup ring mold.
  4. Press the cheese mixture into the ring mold over the almonds.
  5. Refrigerate the assembled cheese ring overnight.
  6. Unmold the cheese ring onto a platter.
  7. Place a small custard cup with strawberry preserves in the center of the ring.
  8. Serve with crackers or French bread slices.
