Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light Karo syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 quarts popped corn
  • 1 to 2 cups nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine margarine, brown sugar, light Karo syrup, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl and bring to a boil for 2 minutes.
  2. Place the popped popcorn in a large brown grocery bag.
  3. Pour the hot caramel syrup over the popcorn inside the bag.
  4. Fold the top of the bag shut and shake to coat the popcorn evenly.
  5. Microwave the bag for 1 1/2 minutes, then shake.
  6. Repeat the microwave and shake process two more times for a total of three sessions.
  7. Open the bag and let the caramel corn cool on the bag or a cookie sheet before serving.
