Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut in margarine using a pastry blender or dough cutter.
  3. Add water and one egg. Blend until smooth.
  4. Form into a ball and knead for a few minutes.
  5. Roll out on a floured board until desired thickness.
  6. Cut into rounds or squares and place a spoonful of filling in the middle.
  7. Fold pastry and seal with the tines of a fork.
  8. Prick the top twice with a fork.
  9. Brush the tops with the egg yolk and milk mixture.
  10. Place on a greased pan with oil and dusted with flour.
  11. Bake for 30-45 minutes at 325°F or until golden brown.
