Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda

Instructions

  1. Boil raisins and let cool.
  2. Reserve 1 cup of raisin water.
  3. Cream sugar and butter together.
  4. Add beaten eggs.
  5. Sift dry ingredients (flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda).
  6. Alternately add sifted dry ingredients and raisin water to the creamed mixture.
  7. Fold in cooled raisins.
  8. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  9. Bake at 375°F for 1 hour.
