Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons sour milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 bananas

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla in a mixing bowl.
  2. Alternate adding flour and salt with sour milk and soda, mixing well.
  3. Fold in bananas and chopped walnuts.
  4. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan lined with wax paper on the bottom.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or more until tests indicate doneness.
  6. Let the bread set on a rack for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
