Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup ripe mashed bananas
  • 1 (6 oz.) package chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream together shortening, sugar, and brown sugar.
  3. Beat in vanilla and egg.
  4. Blend in mashed bananas.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Stir in chocolate pieces.
  7. Spread the batter in a greased and floured 10 1/2 x 15 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes.
  9. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
  10. Cut into 30 bars and store tightly covered.
