  3. Beat in the vanilla and egg yolk.
  4. Gradually add the sifted flour, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Press the dough into a greased or parchment-lined baking pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes or until golden.
  7. Break the giant Hershey bars into pieces and melt them in a double boiler until smooth.
  8. Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled cookie base.
  9. Allow to set, then cut into squares and serve.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar. If you don't have giant Hershey bars, you can substitute with any chocolate bar of your choice, or even chocolate chips. To enhance the texture, add chopped nuts like almonds or pecans, similar to what you might find in Oatmeal Choco-Nut Cookies.

Serving Suggestions

These cookies are delightful on their own but pair beautifully with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee. For a dessert platter, serve alongside Creamy Potatoes And Peas or Jane'S Peanut Brittle for a variety of flavors. They also make a great gift when wrapped in decorative packaging for special occasions.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Almond Roca Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. To keep them fresh, you can also freeze them for up to three months. If you want to enjoy them warm, reheat in the microwave for a few seconds or in the oven at a low temperature until just warmed through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use margarine instead of butter?

While you can use margarine, it may alter the texture and flavor of the cookies. Butter provides a rich taste and helps achieve a tender crumb. If you want a dairy-free option, look for a high-quality vegan butter substitute.

How do I know when the cookies are done baking?

The cookies should be lightly golden around the edges and slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven. They will continue to firm up as they cool. Keep an eye on them, especially the first time you bake, to avoid overbaking.

Can I add other flavors to the cookie dough?

Absolutely! You can add a teaspoon of almond extract for a nuttier flavor, or mix in chocolate chips or dried fruits for added texture and taste. Experimenting with different flavors can make these cookies uniquely yours.
