Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 rib celery, chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Heat 4 tablespoons butter or margarine in a large skillet.
  2. Add chopped onion, celery, and green pepper; cook and stir for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, and vinegar; heat to boiling.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer covered for about 30 minutes, stirring once or twice.
  5. Serve over rice, noodles, mashed potatoes, or toast.
