A tangy, sweet, and smoky barbecue relish made with tomatoes, peppers, onions, and apples, perfect for adding bold flavor to grilled meats and sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 8 ripe tomatoes
  • 6 green peppers
  • 6 onions
  • 8 tart apples
  • 6 red peppers
  • 1 pt. vinegar
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Grind vegetables and apples through the coarse blade of a food grinder.
  2. Combine sugar, salt, spices, and vinegar to make the liquid mixture.
  3. Pour the liquid over the ground mixture and cook slowly for 20 minutes.
  4. Pack the hot relish into jars and seal.
