Barbecued Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 6 medium to large sweet potatoes or yams
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes.
  2. Cut slits in the tops of each potato.
  3. Wrap each potato securely in aluminum foil.
  4. Cook the wrapped potatoes 6 inches from heat, tops down, for 20 minutes.
  5. Turn the potatoes and pierce the foil tops with a fork.
  6. Cook for an additional 20 to 25 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  7. Open the foil and cut it open.
  8. Combine melted butter and ground cloves.
  9. Drizzle the clove butter mixture over the tops of the potatoes.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
