Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 8 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped fine
  • 2 lb. onions, chopped fine
  • 1/4 cup canning salt
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pt. cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Peel the tomatoes or put them through a juicer.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large pot.
  3. Cook until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  4. Allow the sauce to cool slightly, then pour into hot jars and seal.
