Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup corn oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Sift together the whole wheat pastry flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Mix in the brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the corn oil and eggs, then stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and chopped pecans, mixing well.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
  6. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
