Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 2/3 c. dark molasses
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves
  • 1/8 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
  3. Stir in sugar, slightly beaten egg, molasses, and vanilla into the cooled butter.
  4. Sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon.
  5. Add raisins and walnuts to the sifted dry ingredients.
  6. Combine all ingredients until well blended.
  7. Pour the batter into a 10 1/2 x 15 1/2-inch cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for about 12 minutes.
  9. Let cool, then cut into bars and dust with sugar and cinnamon.
