Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients.
  4. Stir into creamed mixture until dough is stiff.
  5. Refrigerate overnight in a covered bowl.
  6. Roll dough very thin, using flour on the board and rolling pin.
  7. Cut out in shapes.
  8. Place 1 to 1 1/2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes or until crisp and straw-colored.
  10. Remove cookies and cool on racks.
