Ingredients

  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. corn syrup
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. franks
  • 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • hot salad oil

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  2. Stir in milk, egg, and corn syrup until smooth.
  3. Insert a wooden skewer into one end of each frank.
  4. Dip the skewered franks into the batter to coat evenly.
  5. Fry in hot salad oil until golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle with shredded Cheddar cheese while hot before serving.
