Ingredients

  • 12 fresh prune plums
  • 12 cubes sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 8 oz dry cured cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Slit and pit the fresh prune plums.
  2. Place a cube of sugar into the center of each plum.
  3. Combine flour, dry cured cottage cheese, melted butter, beaten eggs, salt, and starch to form a dough.
  4. Beat the mixture until smooth.
  5. Chill the dough for 1 hour.
  6. Divide the dough into 12 portions and wrap each around a prepared plum, sealing well.
  7. Cook the dumplings covered in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  8. Drain the cooked dumplings.
  9. Pour melted butter over the dumplings or serve with sour cream, if desired.
  10. Serve hot with roast pork, beef, or pot roast.
