Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer. Beat in vanilla.
  2. Using low speed, mix in flour.
  3. Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and mix until combined.
  4. With lightly floured hands, shape the dough into a roll 2 inches in diameter.
  5. Roll the dough in remaining walnuts to coat.
  6. Wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight.
  7. Slice the dough into 1/4-inch thick slices.
  8. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer cookies to a rack to cool.
