Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup flour, sugar, salt, lemon peel, and yeast.
  2. Combine milk, water, and margarine in a saucepan.
  3. Heat the liquid to 120° to 130°.
  4. Gradually add the heated liquid to the dry mixture.
  5. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
  6. Add the egg and 1/2 cup flour.
  7. Beat on high for 2 minutes. Stir in more flour to make a soft dough.
  8. Cover and let rise in the oven until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
