Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 green pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 1 (1 1/4 oz.) package beef mushroom soup mix or beef onion mix
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup red wine

Instructions

  1. In a large fry pan, brown the beef cubes in butter.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms and chopped onion; continue browning until tender.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients except the red wine.
  4. Simmer, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add the red wine; continue simmering for 15 to 20 minutes until the meat is tender.
  6. Serve over buttered noodles or rice.
